Head of the Department of Water Protection at the Central Mining Institute - National Research Institute.

Doctor of technical sciences, expert in water and wastewater management. Member of research teams in projects financed from external funds Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, RFCS.

Author and co-author of several dozen programmatic and detailed concepts as well as strategic programmes concerning water and wastewater management for local government units, water supply companies and industrial plants, long-term investment programmes in the field of technical infrastructure, including investment projects financed from the European Union funds.

Consultant with practical, over 20 years of experience in preparing and conducting EIA proceedings in wastewater management, public consultations, including strategic environmental impact assessment.

Co-author of several dozen reports on the impact of projects on the environment and feasibility studies and applications for investment projects financed from EU funds (PHARE, ISPA, Structural Funds, Cohesion Fund). Expert in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in water and wastewater management.


Pablo Heleno Sezerino is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering at Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), in Brazil. He coordinates the Decentralized Sanitation Research Group (GESAD) focusing on wastewater treatment, constructed wetlands technology and sewerage systems governance. He also is a tutor of Postdoutorate, Doutorate and Master students at Environmental Engineering Postgraduation Course (PPGEA/UFSC). Researcher of Productivity at National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) - Level 2. Secretary of the Red Panamericana de Sistemas de Humedales (HUPANAM). Coordinator of the Wetlands Brazil Group. Project leadership with National Health Foundation (Brazil Health Ministry) during 5 years applying constructed wetlands for decentralized wastewater treatment. Sub coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Nature-Based Solutions (INCT-SbN).



Rogério Barbosa works for the The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group as senior project manager since 2018. Rogerio holds a Master´s degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK) and a postgraduate diploma on Environmental Management from the Open University (UK). The AFD Group works in Brazil since 2007 with the aim of implementing France’s policy in the areas of development and international solidarity. With more than 700 million euros loaned to public water utilities at municipal and state level, AFD has stepped up its support to the implementation of the Brazilian “Legal Framework on Water and Sanitation” approved in 2020.
