wwtp belem + bio energia
I - WWTP Belém + US Bio Energia

On this visit you will be able to see the Belém sewage treatment plant and the energy generation plant, the Sanepar Bioenergy Plant. ETE Belém was Curitiba's first major sewage treatment plant, opened in the 70s. It currently treats the sewage of around 1 million inhabitants using an activated sludge system. All the generated sludge is sent to US Bio's plant for biodigestion and energy use of the biogas generated.

Address: Av. Mal. Floriano Peixoto, s/n - Boqueirão, Curitiba - PR, 81730-000

Miringuava
II - Miringuava: Where Nature Inspires Water Management

Imagine a future where nature is our greatest ally in water management. On this immersion in the Miringuava river basin, you'll discover how this vision becomes reality. You'll learn about initiatives that restore strategic areas and boost the local economy through Nature-Based Solutions. We'll explore water conservation practices and wastewater treatment processes through root zone treatment at the Araucária Winery and at a rural property that promote responsible tourism. Join us and be inspired! Discover how the union between biodiversity conservation and impact entrepreneurship is shaping the future of water management and conservation.

Note: Wear suitable shoes and bring a raincoat, sunscreen and insect repellent.

Address: Rua Aparecida Goés de Paula, 1300, Colonia Murici

PIRAMIDE SOLAR
III - Exploring Nature-Based Solutions: A Guided Visit to the Wetlands at Curitiba. Bonus: Solar Pyramid

We are excited to invite you to an exclusive technical visit to the Curitiba Landfill (Aterro da Caximba). This visit offers a first-hand look at one of the most innovative systems for leachate treatment, composed of natural wetlands that have been successfully in operation since January 2011, representing a key component of a nature-based solution, which are actions supported and inspired by nature. At this site, you'll witness how nature-based solutions are playing a pivotal role in sustainable waste management. The three natural wetlands used for posttreatment of the leachate represent a cutting-edge integration of ecological processes to reduce the environmental impact of the landfill, while promoting long-term sustainability. As a special part of this visit, you also could explore the Solar Pyramid, showcasing another key element in the site's sustainability efforts.

Address: Rua Dirceu Machado, Campo de Santana, Curitiba

wwtp passauna + wwtp padilha sul
IV - WWTP Passaúna + WWTP Padilha Sul

"We invite you to visit two small anaerobic + aerobic WWTPs systems. In these treatment plants, we will be able to see anaerobic reactors and post-treatment arrangements that offers low energy costs, as trickling filter and lagoon system and a demonstration of the cycles of by-products generated from sewage treatment.

Passaúna WWTP has a hydraulic capacity of 60 l/s and currently treats sewage for approximately 48,000 inhabitants. The WWTP consists of UASB reactor, trickling filter and a secondary sedimentation tank. The sludge generated is dewatered in drying beds and sent to Padilha Sul WWTP for preparation for agriculture.

Padilha Sul WWTP is also made up of UASB-type anaerobic reactors, an aerated lagoon and a sedimentation lagoon. The sludge generated is mechanically dewatered. At the end of the visit, we'll have the opoortunity to see the sludge reception and requalification center for agricultural use, as well as an experimental project on pharmaceuticals / antibiotics removal by wetland system using the final effluent of the WWTP."

Addresses:

WWTP PASSAUNA: Rua Augusto Borkowski, S/N

WWTP PADILHA SUL: Prolongamento da Rua Aparecido Caetano, S/N, Ganchinho

ETE ATUBA THERMAL DRYER
V - WWTP Atuba Sul and Thermal Dryer

ETE Atuba Sul is one of Sanepar's main sewage treatment plants. In operation since 1997, the plant currently serves approximately 855,000 inhabitants in the eastern region of Greater Curitiba. The treatment process employed at the plant consists of 24 anaerobic reactors (UASB type) complemented by physical-chemical post-treatment with dissolved air flotation and accelerated decantation. The resulting sludge (approximately 5 t/h) is dewatered in centrifuges and then dried in a rotary drum-type thermal dryer using biogas, sludge and complementary plant biomass as an energy source.
Work is currently underway to expand the WWTP to serve approximately 1,050,000 inhabitants (2,100 L/s average flow), including the conversion of the treatment processes to activated sludge (primary decanters - 12,000 m³ total, 4 aeration tanks (8,000 m3 each) and 4 secondary decanters with 13. 000 m3/each), anaerobic digestion of the sludge (4 digesters with 7,500 m³ each), estimated generation of 12,000 Nm3/d of biogas to be used for thermal drying of the residual digestate, generation of electricity (500 Kwe), recovery of energy from the motor-generators and thermal drying to heat the sludge digesters.

Address: Rua Luiz Lara Fernandes da Penha, esquina com  Rua Miguel Pedro Abib

PIRAQUARA MANANCIAIS
VI - Mananciais da Serra: Heritage and Conservation of Water Sources

Join an immersive tour of the Serra do Mar and discover the history of the first water collection and supply system in Curitiba and Paraná, as well as visiting the Mananciais da Serra Environmental Education Center (CEAM). During the tour, you will have the opportunity to explore the educational activities aimed at water conservation carried out at CEAM, as well as visiting the sewage treatment system using a root zone. Enjoy the panoramic view from the Mirante das Águas, with the Serra do Mar in the background and the Cayuguava reservoir (Piraquara I) in sight. Come with us to understand how environmental education and the preservation of water resources are fundamental for a sustainable future.

Note: The visit to Curitiba's 1st Supply System is approximately a 20-minute walk. Wear suitable shoes and bring a raincoat, sunscreen and insect repellent.

Address: Rua Eduardo da Rocha / Estrada da Barragem, S/N, Piraquara

MUSEU DA AGUA
VII - Sanepar's Operational Control Center  (CCO) + Central Laboratory + Planet Water Museum

Sanepar's Operational Control Center is responsible for controlling and distributing treated water from the Curitiba and Metropolitan Region Integrated Supply System (SAIC) to around 4 million inhabitants in Curitiba and the Metropolitan Region, and is fundamental to guaranteeing the quality of the services provided by the company.
The Central Laboratory carries out analyses to assess the conformity of water and sewage, as well as slurry, sludge and soil. It carries out biological, physical-chemical and instrumental analyses, and provides support for environmental accidents and the company's Water Safety Plan, as well as controlling treatment chemicals.
The Planet Water Museum is an educational space that aims to raise public awareness about the management of water resources. It attracts visitors with a creative and sensory museography, using technologies such as projection mapping and augmented reality to create an immersive experience about the importance of water.

Addresses

CCO: Avenida Mal. Humberto de Alencar Castelo Branco, 30, Jardim Social, Curitiba.

Laboratory and Museu: Rua Eng. Antonio Batista Ribas, 151
