Devi Bühler is a research associate at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland and is concurrently pursuing her PhD at Ghent University in Belgium. She did her bachelor’s and master’s degree in environmental engineering at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.

She is specialized in decentralized water treatment, greywater treatment and reuse, and its integration into the built environment. Her work aligns closely with the principles of the circular economy. Her professional endeavors have an international dimension, with notable experiences in South Africa. A project that stands out in her international work is the LaundReCycle project in Cape Town, a practical application of her expertise in water treatment and reuse. In Switzerland, her most notable project is the "KREIS-Haus," a nearly self-sufficient house that serves as both a holiday house and a living lab for testing new circular building concepts and technologies in practice. It also functions as an educational hub, offering visitors hands-on experience with these innovations.

Florent Chazarenc holds a Ph.D. in environmental engineering and serves as a senior researcher and group leader at INRAE, within the REVERSAAL research unit based in Lyon, France. INRAE, France’s National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment, was established in 2020 following the merger of INRA (National Institute for Agricultural Research) and IRSTEA (National Institute for Science and Technology for the Environment and Agriculture). For over 30 years, INRAE has been tackling key challenges related to sustainable agriculture, land management, and water resource management.

At REVERSAAL, Dr. Chazarenc focuses on research aimed at reducing, reusing, and recycling resources from wastewater. His expertise lies in low-energy wastewater treatment systems and resource recovery, particularly the innovative recovery of phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N) from industrial and domestic wastewater, a field in which he has been actively involved for over 20 years. More recently, his work has expanded to include carbon capture and valorisation projects. Dr. Chazarenc has published 60 peer-reviewed papers and is the former secretary of the SG Group on Treatment Wetland Systems for Water Pollution Control. He also chaired the 14th IWA Specialized Conference on Small Water and Wastewater Systems, held in Nantes in 2017.
