Advisor for the Ecological Transformation Plan at the Executive Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Hydraulics and Sanitation from the São Carlos School of Engineering - USP (2003). She completed her postdoctoral studies at Cornell University (USA) between 2012 and 2013. She is a Full Professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) and served as the Vice-Director of the Institute for Oil and Energy Research at UFPE. She was a visiting professor at the University of Toronto, Canada, from 2016 to 2017, and has held the status of Associate Professor at the University of Toronto since July 2017.
She is a consultant for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and the mentor for the startup Pluvi, incubated at UFPE. She is the founder of the NGO Afetos. From 2018 to 2019, she coordinated the Graduate Program in Civil Engineering at UFPE (Recife campus). She was a regular member of the Engineering Chamber at FACEPE from 2019 to 2023 and a regular member of the Management Committee for the Human Resources Training Program (PRH-ANP 48.1) during the same period. She participated in the 2017-2020 quadrennial evaluation committee for Graduate Programs in Engineering I at CAPES. In 2020, she was a regular member of the UFPE Covid-19 Emergency Committee. She coordinated the Graduate Program in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Caruaru campus of UFPE from 2014 to 2016 and led the Network for the Development of Nanosensors for the Detection of Micropollutants in Water (NAMICRO). Her primary research areas include bioremediation of degraded areas, degradation of textile effluents and aromatic compounds, as well as sanitary protection of cisterns.
