Partner of GO Associados, a Brazilian consulting firm. As a consultant, has participated as expert witness and arbitrator in several cases involving private and public disputes. Experience includes participation as expert witness in the New York Bankruptcy Court.
Professor of Economics at Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and Coordinator of FGV’s Infrastructure & Environmental Solutions Studies Center. He was visiting professor at Columbia University in the U.S. in 2006. Member of the International Academy of Law and Economics.
Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California (Berkeley), Master from the Universidade de Campinas (UNICAMP) and Bachelor from University of São Paulo (USP).
He is a Board director of BRASKEM and TIM. In both companies coordinates the Statutory Audit Committee. At TIM is a member of the ESG Committee. He is also the President of the Board of Directors of Estre Ambiental. He has been certified as an independent board member and a Member of the Audit Committee (CCoAud + IBGC) by IBGC (Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance).
He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Compact's "Movimento + Água”.
His previous positions include being the CEO of Sabesp – Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo (2007-11), the fourth largest water company in the world; President of CADE - the Federal Antitrust Authority (1996-2000); Deputy Secretary for Economic Policy (1993-95) and Secretary for Economic Monitoring (1995), both of which, within the Ministry of Finance.
